Koh Lanta Yai has over 20 km of beaches from north to south. Klong Dao (lively, families) and Long Beach are in the north; Klong Nin and Kantiang Bay (wilder, sunsets) are in the south. Scooters hire for 200-300 THB/day to explore all beaches. Water is calm October to April.

The National Park at the island's southern tip (200 THB entry) shelters a wild beach, a lighthouse and short jungle trails (1-2 hours). Scooter access from the north takes 40-50 minutes (partly on dirt road). Monkeys and monitor lizards are easily spotted. The park beach is often empty even in peak season.
